evensong

Evensong is held at 6.30pm on Sundays in the Old Church. On the first Sunday of every month the service takes the form of traditional Sung Evensong with sermon, organ and Anglican chant. On the other Sundays, the service draws on the structure of traditional Anglican evensong but seeks to reflect our particular context in Stoke Newington in the 21st Century.  Stoke Newington is a diverse and  creative place, home to artists and writers.  It is also has a long radical tradition, one of questioning and debating.  All things that we see bringing richness and depth to our worship.  While celebrating the Christian tradition and our faith in the way of Jesus we seek to provide a space where people, wherever they are on their spiritual journey, can ask questions and wait for the answers they need to emerge in their own time.  All are welcome. Do wrap up warmly in winter -our Elizabethan church is beautiful but cold!
