St. Mary's Stoke Newington

community spaces

St Mary's has two community spaces: the Community Centre in Defoe Road and the New Church Rooms next to the church. These rooms are available for hire for community activities (or quiet training days) More information from Mark Perrett, the Parish Administrator on 020 7254 6072 (Tuesday-Friday) or email stmarystokenewington@btinternet.com.

The New Church and the Old Church
can be hired for concerts and special events. For example, each summer (usually at the end of June) the Old Church hosts a week of concerts for the Stoke Newington Early Music Festival  which has been running for 12 years.

Our former parish hall has been refurbished for use as a community centre. The Church would like the Centre to be used for the benefit of all people in the locality and the premises have been designed primarily to provide meeting space for different community groups serving the public, as well as for other worthwhile activities.

There are two main spaces for hire:

  • A large hall with adjoining kitchen

  • A quieter upper room suitable for groups of 15 or less

  • Please note that private social events are not normally considered, but we can let the large hall out for children's parties. Please enquire.

    The New Church Rooms
St. Mary's New Church, Spensley Walk opposite Clissold Park off Stoke Newington Church Street. The rooms are up the rectory drive.

During the week and at weekends we have available for hire:

    • A large room that would seat up to 50

    • A smaller conference type room for 10-15 people.

A kitchen is also available for hire.

If we are unable to help, we may have space space available at our affiliated  church at St. John’s Brownswood Park in Gloucester Drive, N4, closer to Finsbury Park. If you are interested, do email or phone us.

We often have day-time space available and also during the Easter and Summer holiday periods. This is ideal if you have a particular course or event you would like to run. Please ask.

    Getting there

The 73, 476 and 393 buses all stop in Stoke Newington Church Street just moments from the Community Centre and the New Church Rooms.
