Before we start it is good to think of some particular person (or people) who is suffering so that we can make this devotion in trust that God will make their sufferings fruitful for good and joy as those of Jesus were. The following pages will take you through the 14 stations. On each page there will be a picture, an opening prayer, a brief meditation, a closing prayer and a verse of the hymn Stabat Mater. You may also wish to say a prayer such as the Lord's Prayer, Glory Be or Hail Mary after each station. The pictures on this site are photographs of the Stations of the Cross sculptures in the Community Church of the Community of the Resurrection at Mirfield, West Yorkshire. Start your prayers on this page with: Jesus, my saviour, see me kneeling before you, praying for all who suffer especially . . ., for myself and for all who need your grace. Grant us all salvation through the infinite merits of your passion on which I am to meditate. May my heart be so moved to sorrow and repentance as I follow the path of your pain that I may be ready to meet with joy the sufferings and humiliations of my pilgrimage on earth. |
