St Mary's: Stations of the Cross- 1: Jesus is Condemned to Death

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you: because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world.

Consider how Jesus, after having been scourged and crowned with thorns, was unjustly condemned by Pilate to die on the Cross.

Jesus, you were innocent yet you consented to suffer for me. I am guilty: bring me to hate my sins and accept your forgiveness.

Station I: Jesus is Condemned to Death

I am guilty: bring me to hate my sins and accept your forgiveness. At the Cross her station keeping, Stood the mournful Mother weeping, Close to Jesus at the last. Through her soul, of joy bereaved, Bowed with anguish, deeply grieved, Now at length the sword hath passed.
